the story so far

Our vision is to increase the skills, confidence and hope of local people to see social and economic transformation in our region. But, we want to be open and honest about how we get there. The twists, turns and all the learning... so, here's our journey...

Founded by Tees Valley Community Church in 2005, TVCP has been helping local Tees Valley residents to fulfil their potential for over a decade.

One of the first training elements we developed was a year-out programme “Daniel Challenge”

In 2016 Academy 3-13 became the official training arm of TVCP, giving the capacity to deliver accredited BTEC, NOCN and NVQ courses from Level 1 up to Level 7

The Academy of Ministry & Leadership was founded, a practical two year level 7 qualification designed to fit around the lives of working people.

We also hit the ground running with the giving back project; combining work readiness skills with community action... in neighbourhood venues across the North East!

After building great relationships in neighbourhoods, we started to run short courses for members of the local community.

We started to realise the biggest breakthroughs for people came as they got alongside each other, building relationships... it
got us thinking...

... through a multi-sector partnership, we ran 'Starting Out in Construction', a 6 week programme to address skill shortages in the local area through classroom coaching, with time spent alongside site managers and supervisors at the Teesside Park Retail Site.
It wasn’t just the learners that thrived in healthy relationships, partnerships = the future!

A clear formula was emerging for us, based on our values (and learning to date) that was to become the core of all we do.

In 2018, we opened a training hub at the Oakwood centre, sharing the 9 acre site with offices, an event space, a community cafe, kitchen, woodland... basically oodles of potential!!!

Even our development of the hub provided work experience opportunities for our giving back project - we love the fact our IAG room was re-modelled by learners!

We invested in more relationships with other organisations (with the same value base as ours) offering accredited training to complement their approach to transforming lives.

We started writing and delivering bespoke training to the public and private sector to fund more of our short courses in neighbourhoods... and a vision for enterprise grew!

We attempted to kick start our vision with a bid to claim a share of £4m from the Tees Valley Combined Authority.
the bid was unsuccessful, but the 6 month learning journey was invaluable to inform an alternative, phased-approach. The Enterprise Village is still very much our vision for the future!

In 2019, in response to learner feedback, the Advance Programme was born!
