We understand that to change the lives of those with multiple and complex barriers to work, requires a willingness to get out into the community, and deliver training within neighbourhoods. Since 2016 we have delivered short courses across the North east and North Yorkshire, connecting with a number of voluntary and community groups along the way, to add value to the work that they’re doing.
All the courses are unaccredited and most run across three sessions (each lasting around two hours). They are designed and delivered to put people at ease, through friendly local tutors and in accessible locations.
Following support from My Sisters Place (a specialist domestic violence service based in central Middlesbrough), Feronia enrolled on a Three13 Confidence course running in her neighbourhood.
The difference it made to her life was amazing, not only did her confidence increase with every session, but she found community and discovered that she was a valued part of it. Following the course she started volunteering at the local Foodbank (and still does) encouraging people that their circumstances can change, there is always hope.
Funded by Sunderland City Council, we are running a course in Sunderland beginning Monday 2 March 2020.
Get Involved is a practical approach to learning over six sessions, designed to boost your confidence and support you to find your next step.
